Wolfgang Groß, co-founder and longstanding general manager of humedica, has been awarded the Ring of Honour of the city Kaufbeuren, Germany. With this award, his hometown appreciates his lifetime achievements. Wolfgang Groß is the fourth bearer of this special award.

„We are grateful for all you have also done for the city of Kaufbeuren,“ appreciated head mayor Stefan Bosse the award winner. Each time he heard of a disaster happening somewhere in the world, he said, he was proud to know that often humedica from Kaufbeuren was among the first to help on site.

Laudatory speaker was the vice president of the Bavarian state parliament Alexander Hold, who has been a close friend of Wolfgang Groß for many years. In the 1990s he had wanted to know what had happened to the allocations from monetary fines that he had transferred to humedica after trials, he reported about his first contact with the humanitarian organization. Wolfgang Groß had then invited him to join his next journey to the children day care centre in Brazil, which was a foundation stone for their friendship.

The Ring of Honour of Kaufbeuren is the highest award of the city. It is made from 750 pure gold in the shape of a signet ring. Since its funding in 1986 it was assigned no more than four times.

Wolfgang Groß founded humedica in 1979 together with friends and headed the organization for 40 years. During this time humedica engaged in more than 90 countries worldwide for people in need. In July Wolfgang Groß passed on the management to his two successors Heinke Rauscher and Johannes Peter.
