The many facets of our refugee work in Melkadida


Since 2011 drought, hunger and violence have forced hundreds of thousands of Somalians to flee to their neighbor countries Kenia and Ethiopia. Ever since the start of this crisis humedica is engaged in the Ethiopian-Somali border region near Melkadida running health care centers there as well as in other refugee camps.

Here people receive basic medical treatment and assistance before, during and after pregnancies. humedica also supports by awareness campaigns on health and hygiene.

humedica media coordinator Hartmut Schotte is on site for several weeks to accompany the project in Melkadida, day-to-day he shares his experiences in the video blog below:
