Pupils from Siegen donate prize money to Pakistani water project

In some rural areas in Pakistani women have to walk for miles to fetch water for their families. The water they bring back is often salty and undrinkable, it makes them ill. And yet, they return every day and take the trouble anew. With his camera the photographer Thomas Grabka has documented the conditions under which the people in the Pakistani province Khipro live and how water and hygiene projects improve their lives. In cooperation with the “#nichtvergesser” (those, who do not forget) campaign of the Foreign Office these pictures were part of an impressing exhibition, which was shown throughout Germany. It especially fascinated the pupils from the Freien Christlichen Schule Siegen in Germany, the proverbial spark, here better called “drop”, caught up. They produced a video, started a charity campaign and raised 622.33 Euro for the construction of a well. When they won a contest of their local Sparkasse, they also gave half of the prize money, in total 2,500 Euro, to our Pakistani relief project. We all are very impressed by so much commitment and thank them very much.

Uwe Richter gives 2,000 Euro and lots of time

Uwe Richter is an important and longstanding supporter of our relief work. Since many years now he supports us as a volunteer in our humedica headquarters in Kaufbeuren, Germany. He does not only drive our transporter to collect donations in kind and „Presents from the heart“, he is also ready to assist us anytime we need support on short call – for example to set up and dismantle exhibitions or information boots. On the occasion of our 40 years anniversary he has now donated 2,000 Euro for our jubilee project „Children and Education”. „I donate and I engage for humedica, because humedica provides quickly help where it is really needed. That is important. In the course of my volunteer work I have gained some insights and I know that the donated money arrives indeed where it is needed most. It is spent directly for the intended purpose“. Thank you very much, Uwe Richter, for your donation and your commitment. We are so glad that you are part of our humedica family.

620 Euro raised at the anniversary of Dr. Willi Stocker

We are particularly pleased to welcome visitors like Dr. Willi Schocker from Altenstädt in Germany, who came in person to the humedica headquarters by the beginning of June to hand over a donation box. He supports our work regularly and has now raised 620 Euro on the occasion of his 70th anniversary. We say from our heart “Thank you very much”.

More than 9,000 Euro bottle deposit revenue collected at the airport Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden

In the German airports Memmingen, Friedrichshafen and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden big humedica containers are installed in front of the security check points to collect the deposit bottles, which must be disposed of before passing the security controls. Volunteers empty the containers regularly, the campaign´s revenue benefits the humedica relief projects. The cooperation with the Baden Airpark Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, which is also supported by Grüner Punkt Deutschland has started in August 2017. Now the airport division head Markus Mußler presented the campaign´s revenue of 2017 and 2018 worth 9,182.20 Euro to humedica employee Miriam Barta. „We are very glad about the success of this campaign“, says Mußler. „It is great that the bottles, which are collected here at our airport, can contribute to help people in need.“

„We thank the Baden-Airpark GmbH and the Grüner Punkt for this important support of our work“, replies Miriam Barta, who manages the bottle deposit campaign at humedica. She also highlights the commitment of the pro bono helpers: „They empty regularly the collection containers and thus contribute decisively to the success of this project. Without the support of the volunteers our humanitarian work would not be possible. In order to distribute the work task on as many shoulders as possible, we are constantly on the lookout for other volunteers, who are ready to support our work actively.“ If you would like to assist us, please contact Miriam Barta via phone +49-(0)8341/966148-61 or mail m.barta@humedica.org.
