Cyclone aid South East Africa: First impressions from Malawi

Our humedica intervention team members Katharina Mayer, Liesel Ruff and Astrid de Kuijer have arrived in the flooded regions of Malawi together with our partner organisation Emmanuel International Malawi. Yesterday and today they were able to gain a first overview of the situation and the requirements on site, at first in Zomba then in Chikwawa. Their first contact point was a small hospital. The pharmacy of the health care station is virtually empty: Malaria and diarrhoeal diseases have widely spread. Not far from the clinic are several camps, where people affected by the floods have found refuge. In total 34 of these provisional refugee camps are situated in Chikwawa. Our team could visit three of them.
