Baden-Airpark GmbH supports humedica

More than 9.000 Euro raised by refundable bottle deposit donation

Since August 2017 the Airport Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden (FKB) of the Baden-Airpark in Germany supports together with „Grüner Punkt“ a special charity campaign for the aid organization humedica in Kaufbeuren. In front of the security checkpoints passengers can put their deposit bottles in dedicated collection containers. The revenue gained by the donated bottle deposit benefits completely the international projects of the humanitarian organization. In the presence of the pro bono campaign helpers the airport now presented humedica with 9.181,20 Euro, the bottle deposit revenue raised in the first one and a half years of the campaign till the end of 2018.

From the very beginning many voyagers have supported this bottle deposit campaign. This also pleases Markus Mußler, the division manager of the FKB airport operation service centre, who handed over the donation cheque worth 9.182,20 Euro to humedica employee Miriam Barta. „We are very glad about the success of this campaign“, says Mußler. „It is great to see that the bottles, which are collected at our airport, can contribute to support people in need.“

„We thank the Baden-Airpark GmbH and the Grüner Punkt for this important support of our work“, replies Miriam Barta, who manages the bottle deposit campaign at humedica. She also highlights the commitment of the pro bono helpers: „They empty regularly the collection containers and thus contribute decisively to the success of this project. Without the support of the many volunteers our humanitarian work would not be possible.“

The project will continue in 2019: the collection containers are ready to receive all deposit bottles, which are not allowed behind the security checks at the Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden airport (FKB). Passengers of the Friedrichshafen Airport as well of the Allgäu Airport Memmingen have also the opportunity to donate their bottle deposit to humedica, too.

For 40 years now humedica supports people, who have fallen on hard times due to natural disasters or structural poverty. Regularly, its volunteer intervention teams are among the first on site to help after earthquakes, typhoons or floods. Its worldwide engagement also covers long-term health and education projects in countries like Sri Lanka, India, Ethiopia or Brazil as well as the supply with relief goods.

Everybody, who would like to support humedica´s work, is welcome. There are manifold possibilities to get involved. At the moment the organization is looking for volunteers to empty the collection containers at the Baden-Airpark. If you are interested to join in, please contact Miriam Barta by phone 08341/966148-61 or mail m.barta@humedica.org.
