After attacks in Sri Lanka: humedica helps the affected people
Nearly exactly ten years ago the bloody civil war in Sri Lanka had run out. Calm was restored in the island, which is called 'Pearl of the Indian Ocean'. This Easter Sunday the terror came back, several bomb attacks brought death to nearly 200 people. Several hundred people were injured. In cooperation with the Sri-Lankan subsidiary organisation humedica Lanka, humedica plans relief measures for the victims and their families.
The wife of the general manager of the Kaufbeuren relief organisation humedica, Wolfgang Groß, comes from Sri Lanka. He was visiting the Easter Mass of the Tamil True Light Revival Church in Stuttgart, Germany, when he was informed about the attacks. The community leader, pastor Alfred Jude, called the believers to pray for the victims.
"I am deeply shocked by these senseless attacks and hope that they will not initiate further violent conflicts in the pluri-religious state of Sri Lanka", was the initial response of humedica general manager Groß. "We are mindful of the victims and pray in particular for the people, who have lost their loved-ones."
In cooperation with the country director of humedica Lanka, Dr. Prithiviraj Thamotharampillai, the organisation asks for donations to support the families affected by the attacks.
humedica asks the people in Germany to help with dedicated donations:
