Hockey for Hope charity tournament for the benefit of humedica

By organizing a charity inline tournament in the „Erdgas Schwaben Arena“ in Kaufbeuren this year the association Hockey for Hope supported humedica once again. Impressing 1.334 Euro were collected for humedica´s relief project in Brazil.

On top one member of the board will make use of a business meeting in Brazil to include a detour at his own charge to visit the children´s village on site. "This way we will be able to hand over the sports equipment to the children in person. The Login Consultants Germany GmbH company will sponsor this activity with 500 EUR.", tells us Alexander Uhrle, chairman of Hockey for Hope, who is very glad about this special engagement. This will also allow for an additional set of jerseys for the children which will rise the financial sponsoring up to 4.500 Euro. Besides the support for humedica the sports club also donated 1.334 Euro to the “Förderkreis für krebskranke Kinder im Allgäu e.V.” (a sponsoring society for children suffering from cancer) as well as “Kleine Patienten in Not e.V..” (an organization engaging for small patients in need).

Also in the name of the children and youths in Brazil we would like to say a heartfelt "Thank You" to Hockey for Hope and all participants of the charity tournament!

humedica: third German organization certified as Emergency Medical Team

As third German relief aid organization we passed the examination by World Health Organization WHO and were officially certified and classified as "Emergency Medical Team 1 fixed". This is a very important step for us as non-classified medical disaster relief organizations will have great difficulty in the future even to enter countries, which have been hit by catastrophes.

For humedica this classification will require significantly more organizational effort: our international well-known medical intervention teams used to consist of six members. The medical emergency team "EMT 1 fixed" will now cover at least 18 members: three practitioners, three coordinators, nine nurses (including one midwife if possible) as well as three logisticians. In the aftermath of natural disasters this will allow for efficient and immediate medical aid also in remote regions without putting strain on scarce local resources on site. As this classification also defines binding standards in the field of emergency aid, the disaster intervention work in affected areas is regulated more clearly in the future.

"It is obvious that this international process introduced basic changes in the field of emergency relief aid.", says the responsible humedica manager Raphael Marcus. "But with regard to the ever more complex challenges these are very important and sensible changes in our opinion."

Please find more information on the EMT certification in background reports and interviews on our homepage or viewing the report of Allgäu TV.
