Bottle deposit projects: urgent need for volunteers

by Esther Schwan,  2018/03/27

Since April 2016 a special donation campaign for the benefit of humedica is running at the Memmingen Airport: air passengers can throw their deposit bottles in dedicated collection containers in front of the security check points. The collection containers are emptied by humedica volunteers, who bring the deposit bottles to the local V-Markets. The redeemed deposit supports the work of humedica.

We are urgently looking for volunteers, who live in the surroundings of the airport and who are willing to empty the containers. You decide, whether one single volunteer or a whole voluntary team would like to take over this assignment.

The engagement for the good cause pays off: after the first seven months a donation of more than 5.000 Euro could be handed over to humedica in November 2016. In 2017 this great result was even topped – in December humedica received a cheque for 9.271 Euro.

Volunteers also wanted for the Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden airport

After the great success of the deposit bottle donation campaign at the Memmingen Airport the project had also started at the Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport (FKB) in August 2017. In the course of the campaign „Donate your bottle deposit“ we cooperate not only with the FKB, but also with the Grüner Punkt. They accept all non-returnable bottles and pay the bottle deposit value to humedica. The returnable bottles are collected and turned in at local super markets.

Since the campaign´s beginning we have already been able to collect more than 3.500 Euro of bottle deposit value at the Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport.

Here, too, we can count on the engagement of volunteers for the regular emptying of the containers. And here, too, we are looking for further supporters, who would like to join in our bottle deposit campaign at the Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport.

At this point we would like to take the opportunity to highlight once more the engagement of all our voluntary supporters, who empty the containers sometimes daily at both airports. Thank you so much for your commitment!

If you would like to support the donation campaign at the Memmingen Airport or at the Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport pro bono, please contact Esther Schwan by phone 08341 966 148 61 or mail e.schwan@humedica.org. We are looking forward to meeting you!
