Wanted: voluntary drivers for „Gifts from the heart“

This year again we are looking for drivers for our big Christmas parcel campaign „Gifts from the heart“, who bring the many parcels from all over Bavaria to our headquarters in Kaufbeuren.

Since the beginning of the year more than 1.600 parcel collection points have registered in Bavaria, where the colourful “Gifts from the heart” can still be dropped off till the 15th of November 2017. From the 16th of November till the 7th of December 2017 the collected parcels will be picked up by voluntary drivers and transported to the humedica storehouse for a final check.

Last year the collection points in Bavaria received about 65.000 parcels for children in need, this year we expect similar numbers. „It is a logistic challenge to pick up all parcels at the numerous collection points in time and to transport them to the target countries till Christmas. But we are hopeful to manage this year again thanks to our many committed voluntary supporters.“ explains „Gifts from the heart“ logistician Jakob Geischberger.

Who lives outside of Bavaria and can not take part in person, can support the campaign with a donation. For 15 Euro our employees in overseas can pack a parcel for people in need and provide for a very special Christmas surprise. Thank you very much for all sorts of support!

Reaching the destination securely: „imec Messtechnik“ supports humedica´s logistics

When relief goods leave the humedica headquarters in the Allgäu, the responsible employees in the storage and logistics department take care that the various goods reach their destination not only as soon as possible, but also as secure and complete as possible. Naturally, sending out technical equipment or medical material involves more effort than other relief goods such as clothes or furniture. Medicaments are even more complicated, because their temperature must be controlled throughout the complete transport chain in order to make sure that the drugs are transported professionally and arrive not only in perfect condition but also ready for use.

„Every medicament delivery is accompanied by a so-called „temperature data logger“, which documents the temperature throughout the whole transport chain. It is essential for us to bring each medicine securely to the suffering people.” explains Hermann Schäffler, head of the humedica relief goods storehouse.

The „imec Messtechnik GmbH“ company from Heilbronn now relieved the financial burden of this process by donating 200 temperature data loggers of its own brand tempmate.® to humedica. The little technical helpers have already taken part in their first mission: several of them accompanied a drug delivery to our hospital in the Niger.

humedica would like to thank the „imtec Messtechnik“ most sincerely for the thoughtful donation in kind and is looking forward to further co-operations in the future.

Turn old into new: more room for humedica employees

EU guidelines? Parliamentary resolutions? State parliament statutes? In the course of our work for people in need time and again we happen on legal questions, we can not answer due to the lack of professional expertise. But it can be expensive to call in a specialist lawyer for each topic and this is certainly not in line with our goal to spend the biggest possible part of our donations directly for our relief work on site.

There is still much work to be done. But we have already reached a renovation milestone thanks to great support. Together with the regional expert for windows, winter gardens and front doors, the „Linara GmbH“ from Kaufbeuren, the new offices were equipped with ten windows with a view into the greens. The „Linara“ specialists offered their help for free to reduce the administrative costs of humedica.

This also is a very concrete form of support for our worldwide help. We would like to thank all “Linara” employees and are looking forward to showing you our new offices in the near future!

Legal perspective thanks to „Stehmann & Partner

Therefore we are most grateful, if professionals support us with free legal advice. Like the interdisciplinary law office „Dr. Stehmann & Partner“ from the Hessian Eschenburg. The attorney Oliver Stehmann counselled us on the sensible topic of inheritance law and last will, which affects us time and again.

We would like to express our thanks for this very special form of assistance and are looking forward to presenting you some concrete results from this cooperation quite soon!
