humedica wins PR Image Award 2016
First place in the portrait category
humedica has won the PR Image Award 2016 in the portrait category of the dpa subsidiary news aktuell prevailing against approximately 1.500 other submitted images. The Allgäu photographer Christoph Jorda had taken the winning picture „Future in ruins“ during a relief intervention shortly after the heavy earthquake in Nepal 2015.
The 3rd of November 2016 the humedica spokesman Steffen Richter and the photographer Christoph Jorda collected the prize in the International Maritime Museum of Hamburg at a ceremony attended by 300 guests.
„As a humanitarian organisation our communication depends on professional and expressive images taken in the course of our relief interventions. We sincerely appreciate the fact that Christoph Jorda assists us time and again as volunteer photograph and provides us free of charge with motifs such as the winning picture. We would like to thank once more for this valuable support.”
The winning photo shows a Nepalese boy only days after the heavy earthquake. He gazes intensely at the camera wearing a sweater imprinted with “I love Nepal”, which seems paradoxical given the situation he is in. While this picture was taken, the humedica intervention team was providing medical care for the casualties of the earthquake. Till date humedica engages in reconstruction projects in this badly damaged country.
The dpa subsidiary news aktuell confers the PR Image Award annually to companies and PR agencies for outstanding photography works. Apart from the humedica image, which won the portrait category award, other entries obtained prizes in seven more categories in Hamburg.
