Climbing record-breaking heights or having a cast put on: there was something for everyone

by Ruth Bücker, 2012/06/19

The 10th Bürgerfest (town festival) and the "Schwabentag” that took place on the same day attracted thousands of visitors to Neugablonz, Kaufbeuren, who celebrated the town district festival together under to the motto "growing together - living together". The guests were entertained by musical and dancing events and enjoyed international cuisine from India to Latin America, as the entire festival was intended to promote integration. Also humedica was present once more with exciting attractions for young and old and delicious treats.

Despite summery temperatures and a weather that would have been perfect for lying at the swimming pool, the honorary assistants had prepared numerous cakes in the run-up to the festival. They offered these treats to the guests, and together with a cup of coffee they were a top-seller that made time fly for the adults in particular. And thanks to the sportive and artistic activities, also the children had great fun.

Besides offering games and fun, the honorary humedica assistants also were pleased to answer questions. Photo: humedica/Stefanie Huisgen

As in the previous years, everyone was absolutely enthusiastic about the crate climbing game. Piling up crate upon crate, climbing higher and higher; the record set for the highest tower of piled-up crates amounted to 24. But also those who did not win in this special climbing activity felt like winners, as they all reached really great heights.

What is also popular and well-established is the humedica face-painting for children. Being Spiderman for a day, turning into a butterfly or having the German flag painted on their faces on occasion of the championship game between the Danish and the German football team that was to take place in the evening: two honorary assistants fulfilled any wish the little girls and boys expressed.

For the first time, the humedica programme also included hand casting. While waiting for their casts to dry, the children learnt what doctors usually use a cast for and how it is put on. Decorated with colourful stickers and hand-painted, the girls and boys could eventually take the casts of their hands home with them at the end of the day, as a souvenir from the Bürgerfest.

Besides to the 17 honorary assistants, without whose support we would not have been able to organise and run the various activities or to offer food and drink, we would also like to express our thanks to the following companies: the Therme Bad Wörishofen, the Skyline Park and the indoors carting company All-Kart for supplying prizes for our winners.

We would also like to thank the Schäfer Displays company, which provided an exhibition wall and a donation box which enabled humedica to present itself appropriately and to collect a donation sum of 180 euros. Furthermore, our thanks goes to the supporting companies KRANprofis, Dobler Metallbau, Pracht Creatives Hobby GmbH, Lohmann & Rauscher GmbH & Co. KG and Hogastra GmbH.

We would like to invite everyone who could not visit the Bürgerfest or had so much fun that they don't want to wait until next year, to attend our Open Day on Saturday, July 14, 2012. Starting from 10 am, international guests will hold highly interesting presentations at the humedica headquarters (Goldstraße 8, 87600 Kaufbeuren) and we will provide both food and drink and also games and fun. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
