Vernissage at the town hall of Kaufbeuren

by Sven Ramones,  2011/02/23

Only a few hours from now, the much-anticipated travelling humedica photo exhibition will open its doors. With the title "Hope in a destroyed Paradise - Haiti after the earthquake of January 12, 2010", humedica will present pictures taken by one of Germany's most renowned photo journalists, Thomas Grabka.

February 24, 2011, will finally be the big day: the impressive photo collection will be presented to the public for the first time at the vernissage taking place at the foyer of the town hall of Kaufbeuren on Thursday evening.

Visitors of the exhibition will be shown impressive pictures of the people and life in Haiti. Photo: Thomas Grabka

In October 2010, Thomas Grabka (publications in DER SPIEGEL, STERN, FOCUS, DIE SÜDDEUTSCHE, TIME MAGAZINE and other printing media) visited Haiti and the relief projects run by humedica in the Caribbean island state.

In impressive pictures, the photographer has succeeded in capturing the hardship of every-day reality which the people in Haiti still have to face even months after the devastating earthquake of January 2010. In our photo show you can preview a small selection of the impressive pictures.

But the photos show far more than that. They show the life that has developed amidst the ubiquitous destruction. They reveal moments of hope, moments of new beginnings and of future.

Besides photographer Thomas Grabka himself, the vernissage will also be attended by the Lord Mayor of Kaufbeuren, Stefan Bosse, as well as by humedica CEO Wolfgang Groß and further humedica employees in charge.

Furthermore, invitations have been given to former team members of missions in Haiti and to representatives from the fields of politics, economics and culture.

Admission to the vernissage, as well as to all other events is free. On request, we will be pleased to give a guided tour around this exciting exhibition.

After the kick-off event in Kaufbeuren, the exhibition will be shown in further German towns. Further exhibition locations have so far been planned to be Kempten (May/June 2011) and Munich (dates to be confirmed).

humedica is looking forward to your visit!
