After Haiti, our thoughts now focus on Africa

On May 20, 2011, the travelling humedica photo exhibition "Hope in a destroyed paradise - Haiti after the earthquake of January 12, 2010" opened its doors at the Wilhelm-Löhe-Haus in Kempten.

The commitment and helpfulness shown by home director Thomas Reuß and his employees regarding this campaign was impressive.

Now, the inhabitants, their families and guests of the retirement and care home of the social welfare work in Kempten in the Allgäu region wanted to take action once more: Touched by the pictures of starving people at the Horn of Africa, they had already collected donations for the humedica relief efforts in East Africa during their annual summer festival.

"The wonderful thing about this summer festival was that everyone here welcomed the opportunity to do something good - and to offer help where it was needed", reported home director Reuß pleased with the success.

Thomas Reuß was absolutely right, when he assumed that the collected amount of donations was probably worth a little fortune in a developing country, and at this point we would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the total donation of 610 euros.

Between Mika Häkkinen and Markus Lanz

When ZDF TV host Markus Lanz, leader of the SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany) faction in the German Bundestag Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Mika Häkkinen meet, then there seems to be some important event. Georg Müller, member of the humedica Board was present at this event, which took place to celebrate the anniversary of the company Rittal GmbH & Co. Kg.

The reason for this event at the beginning of September was the 50th anniversary of the Hessian company, which has been supporting humedica by means of donations for many years. Also during the anniversary festivities the company emphasised its commitment for social responsibility. On behalf of humedica, Georg Müller accepted a cheque of 10,011 euros for the relief measures at the Horn of Africa.

Furthermore, the member of the humedica Board and founder of the humedica forum of Hesse was honoured by being appointed a member of the Board of Trustees of the newly founded "Rittal Foundation", which is planned to offer financial support to social and educational institutions.

We would like to thank the Rittal GmbH & Co. Kg, in particular the proprietor Friedhelm Loh for their long-term and current support and wish them God's blessings and all the best for the future.

"... good sounds - good deeds!"

The fact that people's hearts can be moved by singing and music was once more proved right during a musical performance.

On August 14, 2011, the bands Nordhangmannen and Harte Schwestern organised a charity concert at Auerberg and demonstrated their talent for charity purposes.

According to their motto "... good sounds - good deeds!" the singers of the a-capella band and the sister duo collected 970 euros during their joint show. However, this amount was not enough for the five men "with a knack for singing".

They redoubled the collected amount by adding financial means taken from their association's funds and in the end they handed over the substantial amount of almost 2,000 euros to humedica employee Rita Herz.

"Thanks to our singing performances we could experience a lot of wonderful moments during the past few years. We are very grateful for the fact that we are part of such a “harmonious group", said the members of the band. And we, too, are grateful - for the support for our project work in East Africa.

Helping can be so simple

Apart from the usual possibilities of making donations to humedica via the online form or by means of sending a text message, the insurance broker AllgäuKapital will be offering an even simpler method of supporting us until October 15, 2011.

The finance and insurance broker will collect donations for humedica in the simplest way - via their company profile on facebook. How does it work? Visit the AllgäuKapital profile on facebook and click on "I like".

On October 15, humedica will receive 0.25 euros for each person who became a fan by clicking on the link. Clicking on the link does not curtail any contractual obligations or fraudulent obstacles and we think that making a donation could hardly be easier..

Please help us to spread news of this campaign. Please help us to generate fans. Please help us to help people in misery by means of one mouse click. Thank you very much!
