Waggener Edstrom Worldwide and Deutsche Bank send out employees to wrap packages

by Stefanie Huisgen,  2011/11/30

Ten thousands of Christmas packages pile up at our "Gift from the Heart" warehouse in Kaufbeuren. Every day we receive new deliveries from our collecting points in Bavaria, containing thousands of colourful packages. Honorary employees prepare the arriving packages for being transported on into the project countries - also with personnel support by companies.

Social commitment has recently become more important once more at German and international companies. Companies become more and more aware of their obligation to act responsibly - for the benefit of society. And their focus is not only set on the well-being of their own country's population, but also on the people living in countries where our help is urgently needed.

The communications agency Waggener Edstrom Worldwide donates one percent of their gross turnover to non-profit organisations every year. Every employee is entitled to 16 hours per year for taking on an honorary employment. "In this way our personnel contributes actively to an improvement of the world they work and live in", explains a passage on the homepage of Waggener Edstrom Worldwide.

On November 18, 2011, a small delegation of employees travelled from Munich to Kaufbeuren. The five highly motivated colleagues Mareike Lenzen, Annette Manteuffel, Annette Müller, Mandy Kuhl and Max Mittereder offered their workforce not only in one, but two aspects.

In the morning, they accompanied two lorries to the collection points and helped to transport the packages from there to the central warehouse. Afterwards, they joined the honorary assistants at the warehouse and assisted them with sorting through the countless colourful presents.

The idea to actively contribute to the campaign "Gift from the Heart" by means of sending out employees of Deutsche Bank was initiated by Brigitte Huss, the director and head of the market area of Augsburg-Kempten. After a visit to the headquarters in Kaufbeuren, she was deeply impressed by the work of humedica and wanted to take on a permanent commitment in favour of the organisation.

Since then, she has been thinking of ways to support humedica both personally and together with her colleagues. On November 26, 2011, she visited the central warehouse together with her colleagues Sonja Danzer (head of the public sector of Swabia) and Bernhard Schneider in order to assist with sorting the packages.

The committed assistants brought with them about 70 donated Christmas presents, which had been collected among the employees of Deutsche Bank in the market area of Augsburg-Kempten.

humedica is pleased about any form of commitment for the campaign "Gift from the Heart" and would like to thank all our hard-working honorary helpers! Without your help and the support of Bayerischer Rundfunk and the charity campaign Sternstunden we would not be able to give so many children in misery such a great Christmas surprise.

In this context we are looking for even more honorary assistants, who could support us with sorting the packages at our warehouse. If you are interested, please contact Ms Roswitha Bahner-Gutsche.

Apart from that, there also exists the possibility of making a targeted donation to humedica in favour of the "Gift from the Heart" campaign. With the donated money, humedica employees in Sri Lanka, Haiti, Brazil, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Niger will put together Christmas packages directly in the countries, as transporting costs are too high. For only ten euros, you can surprise girls and boys in these countries with a nice present. Thank you very much for your support!
