3000 euros for Brazil: charity sales at new health food shops

by SRI, 2011/04/01

The degree of creativity and conviction numerous people show regarding their support of humedica's commitment in many parts of the world is amazing. This is confirmed by the latest example: Gabriele and Martin Merk, operators of nine health food shops of the Vita Nova chain in the Allgäu region, took part in the company's Germany-wide charity campaign and a few days ago handed over the total yields of 3000 euros to humedica.

humedica will invest these financial means in our projects in Brazil. At the beginning of the year, the region surrounding Nova Friburgo was hit by the worst disaster in its history. Broad areas were devastated massively during landslides that were triggered by ongoing rainfalls. More than 500 persons died, among them also family members of employees in the humedica project, as well as children who had attended our day care centre. Several ten thousands of people had to leave their houses.

humedica immediately sent out a first medical mission team and organised the distribution of relief goods in this region well-known to us. Furthermore, a coordinator had been in Brazil until a few days ago, in order to help the humedica employees in Nova Friburgo to implement the continuing relief measures.

"It is great that this disaster relief and our important project work in Nova Friburgo receive this support," said Joachim Panhans enthusiastically. He was the one who had the honour of accepting the donation cheque for 3000 euros on behalf of humedica a few days ago.

Germany-wide, customers of the Vita Nova health food chain could buy carrying bags full of trial products. The chain's branches then were given free choice regarding the use of the campaign's yields. Gabriele and Martin Merk decided to donate the yields to humedica, not only because of its regional closeness, but also because of the useful project work in Brazil, where especially children depend on help day by day.

"We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the Merk family for their commitment and this generous donation," Joachim Panhans concluded his visit at the Kaufbeuren headquarters of the nine Vita Nova branches run by Gabriele and Martin Merk.

After concluding our medical relief measures, which we have been able to implement also thanks to the support of the German Federal Foreign Office, humedica will promote the reconstruction of destroyed houses. Furthermore, we are focussing on the running projects for children in Nova Friburgo, with more than 250 little attendants at our day care centre. Please help us to implement these valuable measures also in future, by means of making a targeted donation.
