humedica team day in Wetzlar

Next Saturday, 09 October 2010, the humedica team day will take place in Wetzlar (Hesse, Germany) from 11am to 5 pm. A group of honorary assistants who have taken part in humedica missions in different countries of the world will assemble at the premises of the radio station Evangelium Rundfunk Wetzlar (ERF).

Besides having the opportunity of meeting each other again, the participants will also be offered an interesting agenda: there will be practically oriented presentations and workshops, as well as informative reports about personal experiences, an overview of current humedica projects and much more. We are looking forward to meeting our guests there!

Help by means of donations in kind for humedica

Besides financial donations, also donations in kind are one of the main pillars of humanitarian relief organisations such as humedica. Therefore, the humedica team was highly pleased to receive a lensmeter donated by the oculist Dr Hans Zink from Straubing. With help of this measuring device, doctors can determine the prescription of eye glasses. Thanks to the device, it will be possible to determine the dioptre value of glasses received as donations in kind.

The donation was handed over by Birgitt Krenz, a freelance nurse who is very committed in the field of humanitarian aid and has already cooperated with humedica in the past.

In cooperation with several manufacturers of medical goods, and supported by the Rotary-Club Straubing, she has several times successfully collected donations in kind, such as spectacles, rollators or wheel chairs, in order to help people in misery.

“We did not have access to the necessary logistics in order to transport donations in kind to their receivers. Therefore I contacted humedica and they would listen to my problem immediately”, told Birgitt Krenz, who has already carried through training measures for local nursing staff in Haiti.

Birgitt Krenz will continue her commitment regarding donations in kind. The humedica team would like to seize this opportunity in order to thank her, as well as Dr Hans Zink and the Rotary-Club Straubing for their support.
