Towards the sun to the Haiti Day in Kaufbeuren

by Ruth Bücker,  2010/06/10

An energetic and thrilling day is awaiting us on Sunday, June 13, 2010: in the framework of the Bürgerfest Neugablonz humedica is organising a Haiti Day and we would like to cordially invite you to this event. You will be able to enjoy the Caribbean atmosphere in the Allgaeu region. Together with you we would like to commemorate, say thank you, inform and spend a wonderful day in the sunshine.

We will start into the Haiti Day with a service at 9am to commemorate the victims of the earthquake of January 12, 2010 and their families. We would like to cordially invite you, dear friends and sponsors, to this ecumenical service which will take place in the festival tent of BSK Olympia Neugablonz at the Neuer Markt in Neugablonz.

Besides guests from our partner organisation Scandinavian Children’s Mission and humedica CEO Wolfgang Groß, also the Haitian Ambassador to Germany, his Excellency Jean-Robert Saget, will attend the ecumenical service and afterwards, at the official opening ceremony at 1pm, he will hold a speech to the guests of the festival together with Stefan Bosse, Lord Mayor of Kaufbeuren and Franz Pschierer, the patron of the event.

Furthermore, there will be a series of activities and attractions under the motto Haiti already before this opening speech and directly after the service. A colourful and diverse programme is planned and visitors of any age will be able to enjoy activities and events from goal wall shooting, face painting for children and climbing boxes to workshops, reports and presentations. And of course there will also be Caribbean food in compliance with the motto Haiti Day. (Please find our detailed programme for the event in the pdf file below).

A musical highlight will be provided by the German-Haitian musician TiCorn and percussionist Manfred Würzner from Marktoberdorf. By singing songs in Creole, French and English, TiCorn will bring the Haitian atmosphere even closer to the people in the Allgaeu. In advance to the event we would like to provide you with a free download of her charity song.

We would like to seize this opportunity to say thank you to all the members of our mission teams who live charity in action and help the people in Haiti.
We would also like to thank all our donors: without your support all the work we put into the humedica projects would not be feasible.
And we are looking forward to spending a wonderful day with you, get to know each other and tell you more about our work in Haiti.
