EARTHQUAKE IN HAITI: humedica-medical team at work
The journey to the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince via the Dominican Republic has been exhausting for the humedica-team of eight; nevertheless, our medical aid workers were able to treat patients immediately after their arrival in the earthquake area.
In cooperation with our project partners in Haiti and the German relief organization Kindernothilfe, in the hours and days to come the humedica team will put the focus on medical aid. The so-called medi-kit the German aid workers carry in their luggage serves as important basic equipment containing dressing materials, antibiotics, pain medication, tablets for water disinfection and other material that is urgently needed for medical treatment.
On Monday, humedica is going to send a third team to Haiti, which will leave Düsseldorf airport at 2pm and, at the same time, transport several tons of relief supplies (medication, medical equipment) into the disaster area.
The new team of eight (three more doctors, two nurses, a pharmacist, a coordinator, a logistician) will fly in a plane provided free of charge by the company AIR BERLIN.
humedica and the relief organization organisation Kindernothilfe will combine their skills and possibilities for a successful implementation of all aid projects in Haiti. Among those who support the aid projects is the charity foundation set up by the Axel Springer publishing house, „Ein Herz für Kinder“ (“A heart for children”).
humedica is still asking people in Germany and beyond for their concrete support through donations to the following account:
