“musica sacra” collects for flood victims in Pakistan

by Sven Ramones,  2010/09/29

In order to support the flood victims in Pakistan, a charity concert was organised by the choir “musica sacra” from Bad Wörishofen. The takings were donated to humedica for use in our current relief projects in those areas of Pakistan affected by the floods.

The concert took place on September 17, 2010, and was highly praised both by the audience and by critics. A total amount of 1,052.40 euros consisting of admission fees and individual donations were collected, and these takings were then handed over at the humedica headquarters by the manager and choirmaster Dr Dietmar Gräf himself, who is famous even beyond the borders of Germany.

When handing over the donation, Dr Gräf spoke in high terms of the humedica missions, not only regarding our flood relief in Pakistan. “Since you are reliable, fast and trustworthy, it is a great pleasure to me to support your organisation and your work by means of a donation,” said Gräf.

The Choir “musica sacra”, which has already reached great renown for its musical performance both in Germany and abroad, has been praised by the media also for its charity concert in Bad Wörishofen. Numerous health resort guests and people living in the city enjoyed the interpretation of pieces by famous composers such as Mozart, Bartok, Händel and Fabrez. Instrumental interludes were provided by several young musicians who had been invited to participate: among others violinist Fiorenza Unglert and her brother, pianist Serafin. And even the audience was asked to sing some traditional folk songs together with the choir.

At this point, humedica would once more like to express its thanks to Dr Dietmar Gräf, the singers of “musica sacra” and to the audience for their commitment. The people living in those regions of Pakistan affected by the natural disaster still need any support possible.

Unfortunately, the situation of those affected in Pakistan has not changed significantly up to now. In cooperation with Kindernothilfe e.V. and the local organisation Riverside Slum Children Project, humedica has been committed in Sukkur in the south of the country since the middle of September. Currently, the fifth medical relief team of humedica is deployed in Pakistan in order to treat ill and injured people.

Dear friends and sponsors: Pakistan is disappearing more and more from the media and therefore also from our awareness. But thousands of people still need our help. Today, another humedica team has set out for the disaster region. Please support our commitment by means of sending a text message containing the reference DOC to 8 11 90 or by making a targeted donation via our online form. Of course you can also choose the traditional way of supporting us and transfer your donation to the account below:
