Three weeks after the quake, the thoughts of many are still with the people of Haiti

Almost three weeks after the devastating earthquake in Haiti, many donations are still coming in at the humedica headquarters. The commitment of people and their desire to help are overwhelming. Again, we would like to present you some examples of charity in action that are supposed to represent the commitment of all our „big and small“ supporters.

Always prepared to help - not just in case of fire

The annual ball organized by the Volunteer Fire Department attracted many visitors. The event took place on January 23rd in the municipal hall of Kaufbeuren.

Each visitor was asked to donate one Euro for Haiti. Rounded up by the local fire fighters and their committee, 700 Euros were thus raised for the people of Haiti.

humedica would like to say thank you to the chairman of the Volunteer Fire Department, Hubert Weikmann (on the right) and especially to the initiator and member of the committee, Thomas Mang (on the left) as well as to all other members of the Volunteer Fire Department.

„We can also contribute to help people in Haiti even though we’re not there.“ With this thought in mind, the pupils of the 5b from the Georg-Müller-comprehensive school in Bielefeld decided to launch a fundraising campaign.

After teachers had reported on the many victims and the disastrous consequences of the earthquake during the morning devotion, the class decided to get active.

Their idea was to sell self-made cakes and other treats on three days during the school breaks. Many of the young people met at their homes during these days to bake and cook together for Haiti.

Through the cake sale, 236 Euros have been raised that went to humedica. The humedica staffers are as happy that they can help people as are the pupils.

Together, the staff members of the Sparkasse branch banks in Memmingen, Lindau and Mindelheim had decided to help the earthquake victims in Haiti with a donation. Their idea was actively supported by the managing board.

4.195 Euro were collected among the staff. The management board was impressed with the commitment of their staff and spontaneously increased the amount to 7.500 Euros.

humedica would like to thank all those involved at the Sparkasse branches of Memmingen, Lindau and Mindelheim for the donation of almost 12.000 Euros.

The major part of the donations is being used to fund the current medical aid delivered by the humedica teams in Haiti, who are still providing medical treatment to and operating on numerous patients each day. Meanwhile, humedica is already making plans for sustainable long-term aid projects for the victims of the quakes.

Please continue to support us in our aid efforts and help us to make sustainable aid possible through a donation to the following account:
