Dream wedding in the Allgaeu

They came to know each other during a voluntary service with humedica; that was in 2008, in Haiti. Apart from that, they bear the same surname. The next step – promising themselves completely to each other – seemed only natural.

For the American nurse Nancy Smith and Dieter Schmidt who worked repeatedly as a humedica coordinator their wedding day in the romantic village of Pfronten, close to their future home in Nesselwang, at the end of July, was the most beautiful day of their life. At the same time, it was a sign of God’s wonderful guidance.

The humedica team agrees with this opinion: beautiful life stories develop when people are brought together through their common interest in helping other people; when love cannot be stopped neither by geographical nor by cultural borders.

This situation is well-known to humedica-managing director Wolfgang Groß and so he also mentioned it in his brief address at the wedding reception; his wife Selvi was born in Sri Lanka, so he also lives in an intercultural relationship that developed out of their commitment for humedica.

And as it was with Selvi and Wolfgang Groß, this special constellation has a pleasant side-effect for Nancy and Dieter Schmidt as well: two wedding ceremonies are held, one in Germany, one in the United States.

The humedica-wedding was completed by the two marriage witnesses, Dr. Irmgard Harms and Dr. Markus Hohlweck, who can both look back on common work experiences with Nancy and Dieter in several countries.

We wish Nancy and Dieter all the very best and God’s rich blessing on their future life together. Till our next text message (if not before) ;-)!

member of humedica advisory board, Bernd Frost, receives honorary doctorate

Dr. Temesghen Fissahay had recommended Bernd Frost to receive the honorary doctorate. Photo: private

Mr. Bernd Frost, who was a member of the humedica executive committee for many years and is now a member of the advisory board, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the United Graduate College and Seminary of Jonesborough (Tennessee).

On behalf of the theological college, lecturer Dr. Temesghen Fissahay had recommended Bernd Frost for this special honour. Among the reasons given for the recommendation are Bernd Frost’s 25 years of humanitarian and theological commitment.

The humedica-team would like to join in congratulating and, at the same time, express its thanks to Dr. Bernd Frost and his family for their support of our work.

Award given to humedica-apprentice Daniel Dieng

Mentioning Daniel makes one think of the balanced, kind young man from humedica’s department of logistics. Unfortunately, this is a thing of the past now.

Since he gained his qualification with an overall average grade of 1,25 (“very good”), Daniel Dieng’s status as an apprentice has come to an end and he is looking forward to the challenges of working life.

Due to his excellent results, Daniel was awarded with a certificate and a book present at the final ceremony at the stately vocational school of Kaufbeuren.

We wish Daniel all the best and God’s blessing for his future! Thank you very much for everything.

Managing director Wolfgang Groß shares Daniel Dieng’s happiness about the excellent final degree with which he finished his humedica-apprenticeship. Photo: private
