Ethiopia is one of the countries in the Sahel, where droughts and hunger are always prevalent. With its large population, a low life expectancy and low standards of education, this country depends on external aid. Family sponsorships help to change the fate of the people living here in a sustainable way. Education and hygiene are the key to a better life!

Debre Zeit

humedica supports farmer's families from Debre Zeit in Ethiopia. The families consist of 2 to 9 children and often only a single parent, or one parent is ill or elderly. The supported children can attend local schools and they are provided with school uniforms and school material. We supply the families with food and sanitary articles on a regular basis and we also organise training and aid measures, as well as prevention measures in the medical field. In the framework of our community projects, families e.g. receive access to sufficiently clean water or financial support for opening up their own small businesses. Our projects also include professional training.

Addis Ababa

humedica offers family sponsorships for the inhabitants of two deprived areas, in the Somali terrain of Mercato and in Kasanchis. These boroughs are marked by poverty, dismal living conditions, aids and a large number of children. Many of these children are left alone during the day or are sent to go begging in the streets. Our children are street children, or they are in danger of becoming just that. Many of them are orphans or half-orphans, others still have their parents, but these are extremely poor. The objective of our family sponsorships is to provide the children with food, accommodation and education on a regular basis, and to provide their tutors and teachers with effective job perspectives.
