Volunteer your time for one week or more to help in a humedica project. Doctors or medical personnel interested in assisting only need to fill out the included questionnaire. Your information will be securely stored in the database, and when help is needed, humedica will get in contact with you.
Those participating set aside a time frame for which they can volunteer their time and, at their own risk, agree to provide assistance in the respective war zone or catastrophe area.
Individuals taking part in an operation must possess above-average flexibility and stability, so that one can still effectively work under extremely difficult situations.
Depending on what services are needed, coordinators, translators, spiritual caregivers or reporters are recruited for each team. During the Kosovo war, humedica maintained clinics in several refugee camps in Albania. With more than 25 workers in total, these clinics provided medical support for thousands of refugees.
Thanks to the complimentary services from participants and inexpensive general agreements, it costs humedica between 100 – 200 Euro a day in order to cover expenses for one doctor working in a conflict area (including medicine, transportation, etc.). Since these operations can handle around 100 patients a day, the average cost per patient is only 1 – 2 Euro.
