Focussing on Children

A bowl of soup - something "more" for him is rare.

Over the years, another important field of work developed. During his many trips to countries all over the world, humedica founding Chairman Wolfgang Groß was consistently confronted with orphans or abandoned children in emergency situations. Thus, orphanages and children’s villages were supported sporadically.

In 1993, the beginning of the first humedica-commissioned children’s village in Nova Friburgo, Brazil, took place. Since then, humedica has had a hand in building and supplying orphanages in India and Sri Lanka. In 2000, in the middle of the year, a children’s centre was built in Kosovo, financially supported by the charity label Sternstunden.

In March 2006, humedica opened the gates to the International School Manipy in Sri Lanka for victims of the tsunami and civil war. After the devastating earthquake in Haiti in January 2010, humedica laid its focus on children when planning long-term projects.

Thanks to the foundation of professional soccer players, stars4kids, a school building can be reconstructed. In addition to that, other reconstruction projects aim at offering a future perspective to the small people of the country, as well.
