In times of need those affected don't speak about anything as being merely "a drop in a bucket". For those of us who live far away from the misery, however, this saying quickly becomes a poor excuse to not do anything.
Blind, starving, ill or catastrophe victims are thankful for every drop which, time and again, saves lives. I have often seen how the face of a hopeless mother, who had nothing more to feed her children, found renewed hope, or how someone who was gravely ill received the medicine that they desperately needed.
In times of need we shouldn't turn away from the sorrow in this world, but rather open our hands and help where we can. To help motivate us into action, a special bible passage comes to mind:
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Yours Sincerely,
Wolfgang Groß
