Over the years, another focus for humedica developed - children who needed help but didn’t have anyone to lobby for them.
From his many travels throughout the world, long-time humedica executive director, Wolfgang Groß, was time and again confronted with the sufferings of abandoned or orphaned children, often prompting intermittent support for orphanages and children’s homes in the area.
1993 saw the beginning of the first humedica-commissioned children’s home in Nova Friburgo in Brasil. Since then, the third from ten planned houses has been completed, and Children’s homes and orphanages have also been set up in India and Sri Lanka.
The newest project is a children's center in Kosovo, built in part from donations by the charity „Sternstunden“, and dedicated in 2000.
